New ignition parts for my next motor

I bought some ignition parts for the 2110cc engine that will go on the Karmann Ghia.

Taylor Spiro Pro "409" Race Wire Set (black), with 8mm silicone ignition wire core. Woven fiberglass over-braid and silicone jacketed top layer for a total of 10.4mm diameter wires. It comes with a 30" coil wire that can be cut to your exact length.

Pertronix Flame thrower II ignition coil (black). Oil filled, low 0.6 ohms resistance, 45000 volt output.

Pertronix Ignitor II Electronic Ignition. It features an adaptive dwell that should help maintaining peak energy throughout the entire RPM range.

High RPM performance should be improved when used with the Flame-Thrower II super low resistance (0.6 ohms) 45,000 volt coil.
It has a built-in protection against reverse polarity and over current.

Hella turn signal switch w/ push button For Sale

Original and rare ivory Hella 50s accessory turn signal switch with a nice push button on its end (you can use this as high beam flasher, for the foglights, wipers or whatever you like...)

This indicator lever will screw directly on the steering column of your early VW Split, Oval, Barndoor, Lowlight or Porsche 356 and is perfect to operate your semaphores, SWF or Hella.

The knob is made of bakelite in an ivory color, while the arm is of polished aluminum. The housing is made of aluminum too, so it will never rust, and is painted ivory. The screws are made of durable stainless steel.

The item is used, but in very good condition! Contacts are good and everything is as new. Can ship worldwide.

One contact screw is missing, but we can easily find one. Inside you can read "Hella", "1", "K", 51 / 25", "L", "54", "R".

Don't hesitate to contact me for any question. Shipping at your own expenses (it won't be so expensive since the item is lightweight).

Still in Germany...

The lowlight is still in Germany for the documents. The heavy snow of this week and Udo getting ill last week didn't help. There's some sand to remove from pedals and tunnel, some more modifications are needed: voltage dropper to move the wipers, some cables for the lights and other minor things. But we are close to the end of this German trip!
In the meantime, let's relax!!!

Windshield "C" chrome trim

In the search for the right parts for my car.
I want to get rid of the "cal-look" window seals and put again the chrome trims.
I just found the right "C" profile windshield chrome trim, good for the 56-66 Karmann Ghia.
I'm waiting it to arrive, I hope the chrome is good.

The 'Lowla' is ready for the TUV test!

The car is ready for the TUV test.

A horn has been installed, fuel lines have been fixed, oil leak from rear axles has been fixed, a tow hitch has been installed together with the necessary light switches and cables (including the emergency turn lights).

A temporary 1600 engine with dual carbs is on.

Temporary 17" Porsche Boxster wheels are on, in order to register 185/35 and 195/45 tires.

Rear, with 17x7" ET55 wheels and 25mm spacers.
The 195/45 tires are a tight fit!

Amber turn signals have been mounted on the rear for the test, soon to be replaced again with the OG all-red US lights.

The car seems a German-Looker now, but this is only for the documents...

Karmann Ghia Project - Step 1

The lowlight is still in Germany in order to get a TÜV test and German documents/number plates. To be able to get the papers with all the things I want, the car is needing some work.

1) mount a 1600 engine with 40 dual IDFs (replaced by a 2110 with 48 carbs within summer). so fuel lines are to be adapted, a fuel reserve lever has to be added for the TÜV (since early lowlights don't have a fuel gauge). heating has to be running (cable and heat exchangers are again needed).

2) repair an oil leak from rear hubs (new brake pads and gaskets needed).

3) remove CB Performance sign from the spindles.

4) mount 17" wheels and tires to have them on the papers

5) mount a hitch (need to modify a Beetle one) and put the cables/relais/connector to run the lights on the trailer. I need to mount this now because I cannot put it on the papers when in Italy.

6) pass the test, have the log-book and hopefully the customized number plates.

Original 4.5" Fuchs wheels with vintage Michelin tires

I got a set of original 4 1/2 J x 15 Fuchs wheels at a reasonable price, still with original paint and tires.
Moreover I found one more OG 4.5" Fuchs to use as spare wheel, and two deep sixes for the rear.
Here are the thin ones, part number 901.361.012.01

Airmighty Megascene new magazine

Here is a new super magazine! Hope to have an Italian version soon too!

This is the intro by its creators Niels and Kobus:

AirMighty Megascene', the new European Aircooled VW Lifestyle Magazine
We bring you the "bigger picture" on the aircooled VW scene

Who?
In January 2010 Niels Timmerman and Kobus Cantraine will launch a new aircooled VW magazine. A European publication called ‘AirMighty Megascene’ and it will be printed quarterly.
The lead language is English but the stories will be translated into German and French. Three major languages inside one publication, it will be an all European magazine!

What...
AirMighty Megascene will be an exclusive high end magazine, a quarterly print on thick high quality paper with a glossy finish. It will be a magazine that you want to collect and we hope to be an addition to the VW scene in general. We in no way want to be a competitor to the already existing media, we want it to be an extra, something that people will want to get on top of their usual monthly favourite aircooled magazines.

AirMighty Megascene magazines will feature News, Tech-Tips, Columns written by celebrities of the VW scene, Show Reports and Car Features. We are mainly focusing on European subjects but we will also bring you stories from the USA, Japan and Australia!

The Team
We have associated ourselves with reputable companies, famous photographers, writers and editors. With these connections we will be able to bring you the latest developments and news from all over the world. We are a European publication using global input.

The AirMighty writing team consists of Niels Timmerman (NL) and Kobus Cantraine (B) flanked by Georg Otto (D) and Yves Maertens (B). Georg and Yves will take care of the German and French texts. All of them have been into the aircooled VW scene for many years and will now share their experiences and knowledge with you inside the ‘AirMighty Megascene’!

“What you are about to discover, thanks to magazines like AirMighty, is that there is a massive community of guys and girls just like you who are searching for fun and information about the mighty Volkswagen.”
Dean Kirsten, Hot VWs Magazine

“Niels and Kobus have come up with an idea to give you a magazine which is available more than one language - hopefully your language - and I am sure this will appeal to you.”
Ivan McCutcheon, VolksWorld Magazine

How to get it!
Subscriptions will be available in ouw web shop. You will be able to find the magazine at some of the major aftermarket aircooled parts suppliers around the world plus of course thru their distributors and your local VW shop in Europe.
