Custom Rev Counter

Ok, I found an Autometer tachometer fitted in the dashboard when I bought the car.

Whatever you think about Automoter tachs, I thought it didn't match the style of the car at all. It was like a punch in your face. So I managed to have a tachometer better suited to the rest of the car...

I bought a Porsche 914/4 tach on ebay.de paying a few euros...

I stripped it..

I wanted to mix it up with one of the Ghia clocks I have...

.. in order to get something similar to the early optional VDO tachometer for ghias. I say similar, because early 6v tachs for lowlights don't reach 7k RPMs...

So I worked with Photoshop and create the face. Then had it printed by a friend, and then put on the OG plate of the clock:

I tried different possibilities...

then I attached the modified plate to the tachometer mechanism

I sprayed the orange pointer in white, then put a round black sticker in the middle...
I had to bend the pointer a little so that it didn't touch the chrome trim.

and this is the final result after some time

Not perfect but I like it!
